The third and last school day of this week! This was an A day again, so why do I write a blog about it? Because something in my schedule changed! First period was still Mississippi Studies. The second period also remained photography. Before third period we had a class meeting and since I am a junior I had to go to the cafetorium, where all the juniors had to go to. They explained some more rules.. and changes like prom is also for juniors this year. After that I went to my third period and that's what's different! Before first period I went to the council and she told me that my painting 1 teacher 'M. Difatta' saw my artwork on deviantart and that he also wanted me in his visual arts class, which is a more advanced art class. So now I got visual arts instead of nutrition and wellness, which is a good replacement I think. So after lunch I had visual arts, and we sketched objects while M. Difatta was explaining the rules and how this class will be thorough the school year. We will do a lot of different kinds of art and we will even go on trips to museums! Like I already said, this teacher seems really funny and awesome! Also I'll be having this class for an entire year and not only a semester! So I'm glad I got that sorted out. Last period was Spanish again, and we just repeated the basics we learned last class and which I mostly knew, since I have done Spanish in my previous school for one year. The teacher though is very nice and I think I will enjoy learning Spanish! Also today I met some new people... it will take a while till I remember all the names ;)
After Lacey picked me up, I started drawing Jane Bradley, my host sister, in my sketchbook I got from M. Difatta's class. But the night is still young! At 7pm I went to have dinner with Dana and her friends. Dana is our neighbour and she is so sweet, which means her friends are too!! Because they are! They are so great to hang out with, because they are all so gleeful and crazy happy :P They are all in the early twenties, but they are adorable and we had a great time! We went to eat Mexican outside Madison. It was a cheap, cute and cosy restaurant. The food was great! I had something I can't even spell or pronounce but it was amazing! Also the tortillas with the cheese dip sauce were just divine! After that, even though we were so stuffed, we went to Bop's, where we ate an ice cream! I had a Hawaiian Crunch, which I can pronounce and type ;) It was pineapple with strawberry and crunchy wallnuts... I couldn't finish it :s When I got back it was almost 11pm, so we had a really long dinner! Because more than 3 hours is a lot! The reason for that is that we talked a looot! :-D xoxo Suzanna Ps: Dana just told me that the meal I had was called a chimichanga....YUM! Pictures can be seen in the gallery De derde en laatste schooldag deze week! :D xoxo Suzanna

Today I'll write about my second day of High School in the USA! Yesterday I had my first A day, and today I had my first B day. It switches all the time, from A to B and all the A days are the same. All the B days have the same classes too. My first period today was Theatre 1! Of course it was the first class, so we didn't do much, but I asked a form to fill in so I can audition for the Shrek musical! I will apply for the chorus, so that means mainly singing. The teacher's name is Ms. Nix and she seemed very glad to teach us. Second period I had painting 1! The teacher is M. Difatta and he kinda looked and talked like an artist. Because of the fact that he also did a long introduction and lecture, we didn't do anything. In this class are also two friends from church! I also met some new people. After this period we had to go to our homeroom. There we had another speech from the principal on MCtv, he had to discuss some more things in the MC student handbook. I also talked to a friend who I have photography with. She had some experience in musicals and told me some things about it. Third period was French 2, I had Ms. Cormady. She seemed really funny and nice, but It didn't seem like she could talk French completely correctly. But the class was funny, there were three Samantha's, there was a Savanna, and..Suzanna,... It all sounded similar, because of the southern accent there is in Mississippi ;) And the same goes for Ms. Cormady's French. In between this period I had lunch with some of this class. 10th graders but they all were very nice, I had lunch with 2 of the Samantha's. :p After Lunch we still had about half an hour french class. Fourth and last period was English 3! This class is for juniors and the teacher is Ms. Johnson. In this class we also didn't really do anything yet, but introduction and testing our way of study. Mine is visual.
So my first 2 days of American High School were very good. It is very different but the experience is nice. A short summery? Students who just walk into class with drinks, teachers who handout food, students who sleep in class, and colourful backpacks and shoes,... Madison Central High School? Works fine for me! xoxo Suzanna |
