Hi everyone,
It's more than a month and I can't believe it's already february. Springtime is coming closer, although at the moment it's really cold in Mississippi. Mississippi weather changes sooo fast! One day it can be 5 degrees Celsius and the next day it can jump up to 20 degrees! With a little a bit of flurries, this is one of the coldest winters Mississippi has had and yes it has been pretty cold compared to the warm weather I got used to. However, this cold weather doesn't stop Madison Central's Athletes! Track season has started after Christmas break and that's what I'm doing now instead of cross country. Track is shorter distance running and we stay on the track which is around the football field. My event is longer distance running, since I was on cross country last semester. It's still different though and hard! This semester I also have new classes, because semester classes change. I still take English, Spanish, French and Visual Arts. Painting II, Theatre II, mythology and Child Development are the new classes I have. Theatre II is so much more fun than Theatre I because we do much more acting and we'll be doing a play later this year, which I'm really excited for. In English we've started research papers. These are due spring break, so we have enough time. I'm doing mine on the Jazz Age, which originates from this area. It's quite interesting and my mom loves jazz :). Two weeks ago, I was in The Variety Show, a talent show organized by the school, which everyone can participate in if they make it through the auditions. We had to audition at the beginning of January. I chose to sing For The First Time In Forever from the Frozen soundtrack! It's a really cute song and even though I was nervous, people assured me was going to make it! (especially Jane Bradley!) When I made it, I started rehearsing and Jane Bradley was my coach. People really got excited when I told them that I was going to sing a part of the song in Dutch! After a couple of practices, Jane Bradley knew the Dutch words to the song! On the 22nd of January, I went shopping for a dress to wear at the Variety Show and Claire and Anna were my stylists! Before that, we went to eat lunch at Newks, which was really fun. After I tried on about 20 dresses, I finally found a cute dress! I was ready and monday night I would perform my act. I was so nervous, but once I was on stage singing, I wasn't scared anymore. Especially the feeling afterwards is so joyful, victorious and peaceful. I am so glad I did it and I am so thankful for my friends and host family who came to support me! I even got flowers from Jane Bradley! But the story still has a twist! Jane Bradley decided to sing the song plus the Dutch part in front of her whole class this week! She was so courageous to do this and I'm so proud of her! Other than that the football season ended with The Superbowl. Actually it wasn't a big deal because it was a bad game. A shame because it was my first Superbowl experience. The Denver Broncos, the team we were pulling for lost from the Seattle Seahawks. At least Jane Bradley and I made cookies that day and they were really good. :) All right! Adios!
